How To Installation?

1. How to Install a Pivot Hinge

A pivot hinge is installed at the very top and bottom of the door rather than on the side. This allows the door to "pivot" from a single point.

Step 1: Preparation and Mortising

Mark the Pivot Point: Decide how far from the door edge you want the pivot point to be. Mark this exact spot on the floor, the top jamb, and both the top and bottom of the door.

Create the Recess: Use a chisel or router to create a "pocket" (mortise) in the top and bottom edges of the door so the hinge plates sit flush with the wood.

Step 2: Mounting the Hardware

Door Plates: Screw the pivot plates into the mortised sections at the top and bottom of the door.

Floor and Jamb Mounts: Secure the bottom pivot mount to the floor and the top pivot pin to the door frame header. Ensure they are perfectly aligned vertically using a plumb line.

Step 3: Hanging the Door

Engage the Bottom: Set the bottom of the door onto the floor pivot pin.

Secure the Top: Align the top of the door with the header mount. Most pivot hinges have a retractable pin or a screw-adjusted pin at the top that you slide into place to lock the door.

2. How to Install a Standard Butt Hinge

The butt hinge is the most common door hinge and is installed on the side of the door and the door frame.

Step 1: Mortising the Door and Frame

Trace the Hinge: Place the hinge on the side of the door (usually 5–7 inches from the top and 10–11 inches from the bottom) and trace its outline.

Chisel the Wood: Chisel out the traced area to a depth equal to the thickness of the hinge leaf. Repeat this process on the door jamb (frame) at the corresponding heights.

Step 2: Attaching the Hinges

Screw to Door: Place the hinges into the mortises on the door and secure them with the provided screws.

Test Alignment: Prop the door up in the frame using shims to ensure the gaps at the top and sides are even.

Step 3: Connecting to the Frame

Screw to Jamb: Fasten the other leaf of each hinge to the mortises on the door frame.

Insert Pins: If the hinges have removable pins, you can attach the leaves separately and then drop the pins in to join them.

How To Use?

1. Operation & Movement

Pivot Hinge: Simply push the door from either side; the floor-mounted bearing carries the weight, allowing the door to rotate smoothly on its vertical axis.

Standard/Ball-Bearing Hinges: Open and close the door as usual; the internal ball bearings in the high-grade stainless steel models ensure a silent, friction-free swing even for heavy solid-wood panels.

Swing Range: Pivot hinges allow for a 180° or 360° swing depending on your frame setup, while butt hinges are typically restricted by the door jamb.

2. Fine-Tuning & Adjustments

Vertical Alignment: If the door drags on the floor, use the adjustment screw on the pivot base to raise the door height.

Gap Consistency: For the butt hinges, ensure all screws are tightened equally to maintain a uniform gap between the door and the frame.

Top Pin Engagement: When using the pivot model, ensure the retractable top pin is fully extended into the header plate to keep the door securely upright.

3. Long-Term Maintenance

Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the stainless steel surfaces and maintain the polished or satin finish.

Lubrication: While these hinges feature precision bearings, applying a drop of high-quality silicone lubricant once a year to the pivot points will ensure the mechanism remains silent.

What is the height/clearance requirement?

The gap between the door and the floor typically needs to be between 5mm and 10mm to allow the pivot mechanism to function smoothly while maintaining a sleek, hidden appearance.

Is it a tripping hazard?

No, the floor plate is designed to be low-profile or recessed. Because it is installed at the axis point (usually in a corner), it stays out of the foot traffic path, making it safer than protruding door stops.

Will the finish match my existing hardware?

The product features a high-quality brushed stainless steel finish. This clean, modern look is designed to match other professional-grade 304 stainless steel handles and locks.

Why Choose Us

1. Massive Load-Bearing for "Heavy-Duty" Applications

Standard hinges hang a door from the side of the frame, which often leads to sagging, squeaking, or frame damage over time. Degol’s pivot design transfers 100% of the door's weight directly into the floor.

Ideal for Oversized Doors: It is the go-to choice for heavy solid-wood doors, metal-clad entrances, or massive "secret" bookcase doors that would destroy regular hinges.

Unmatched Longevity: By using a vertical axis and high-quality stainless steel (SUS304), the door remains perfectly balanced for years without needing adjustment.

2. The "Hidden" Designer Aesthetic

If you want a door to look like part of the wall, this is the hardware you need.

Concealed Minimalist Look: When closed, the hinge is entirely invisible. There are no metal "knuckles" or screws showing on the side of the door.

Invisible Doors: It is the preferred choice for "Secret Rooms" or minimalist apartments where clean, uninterrupted lines are required.

Versatile Swing: Many models allow the door to swing 360° or open in both directions (push-in/pull-out), providing architectural flexibility that standard hinges can't match.

3. Precision Engineering & Silent Operation

Degol hardware is known for its smooth, "weightless" feel.

Frictionless Movement: Even a 300lb door can be opened with a single finger thanks to precision-machined ball bearings.

Corrosion Resistance: Made from premium stainless steel, these hinges are resistant to rust and wear, making them suitable for high-humidity areas (like luxury bathrooms) or coastal exterior entrances.

Adjustability: Unlike fixed hinges, these allow for post-installation fine-tuning to ensure the door sits perfectly flush with the floor and ceiling.
