Brazilian lock cylinders—renowned worldwide for their advanced anti-theft engineering—represent one of the most secure residential locking solutions available today. Unlike conventional 5- or 6-pin cylinders, Brazilian lock cores typically feature 8 to 12 precision-cut pins arranged in a dual-sided, symmetrical key system. This intricate design dramatically increases the number of possible key combinations, making unauthorized duplication or picking virtually impossible. The cylinders are often constructed from hardened steel or anti-drill alloys, offering strong resistance against drilling, snapping, and bumping attacks. Originally developed in response to rising urban security challenges in Brazil, this lock technology has since become a benchmark for high-security applications across Europe, Asia, and North America—trusted in homes, offices, and commercial buildings where safety is non-negotiable.

1. What are A-level, B-level, and C-level locks? Which one is the safest?

This is the most common classification of security levels in China:

A-level (entry level): The key is a single row of pins. Technical unlocking usually takes less than 1 minute. The security is low.

B-level (medium): The key has a double row of pins or a snake-shaped groove. Technical unlocking takes more than 5 minutes.

C-level / Super B-level (recommended): The key usually uses blades, multiple rows of pins combined. Currently, it has the strongest anti-technical unlocking ability (usually takes more than 270 minutes), and is the preferred choice for entry doors.

2. How to measure the size of the lock cylinder? (Required for lock replacement)

Lock cylinders are not universal. Before purchasing, they must be measured:

Total length: The total distance between the two ends of the lock cylinder (such as 70mm, 80mm).

Center position: Measure the distance from the screw holes of the lock cylinder to both ends (for example: 35mm + 35mm, or offset the lock cylinder such as 32.5mm + 47.5mm).

Note: If the eccentric lock cylinder is installed in the wrong direction, the key may not be able to go all the way through from one side.

3. What is the difference between "single opening" and "double opening" lock cylinders?

Double opening (Double Cylinder): Both ends have keyholes. Both the external and internal sides require a key to open.

Thumb-turn (Thumb-turning): The external side uses a key, and the internal side is a knob. It is convenient for quick locking and escape indoors, and is currently the most mainstream choice for residential buildings.

4. Why is it difficult to turn the key in?

Common misconception: Never drip cooking oil! Cooking oil will bond dust and over time will form oil residue, causing the pins to get stuck.

Correct approach: Use graphite powder (powder from a pencil) or a dedicated dry lubricant spray for locks.

5. What is "interlock rate"?

It refers to the probability that a key can open someone else's lock.

Low-quality lock cylinders have a high interlock rate, and the same community may have keys that can be interchanged.

Brand C-level lock cylinders increase the key quantity (key pattern combination) to reduce the interlock rate to almost zero.
